Homeopathic Remedies for Springtime Colds

Spring is almost here!

Sometimes a day in March can be like early summer and the next day when it snows, it feels like the middle of winter. Or even in just one day, the sun can shine hot while the wind is blowing very cold. On the sunny side of the street, it seems like summer and then like winter in the shade. When these kind of sudden temperature changes bring on a cold or fever, homeopathic remedies can be very helpful. What remedies do you keep handy? The following remedies are helpful when an acute sickness follows springtime weather changes:

Aconite – In the early stages of a cold, or for symptoms, often with fever, that come on suddenly after being exposed to cold, dry wind. One cheek could be red, the other pale and the sick person has a craving for ice cold drinks.

Allium Cepa – A remedy often used for colds starting during times when the weather is changing from cold to warm, the nose runs like a faucet and burns the nose or upper lip.

Gelsemium – Such an effective remedy for stages of great exhaustion, especially during colds and flues that come on in the early spring when the snow melts. The sick person may have chills down their back and no thirst at all.

Rhus. Tox – For a cold with fever blisters that started after someone got cold and wet, may now have backaches and feels better after a warm bath. The person is very restless, cannot sit still and craves cold drinks, especially milk.
