The practice of homeopathy offers a rewarding career with the opportunity to naturally and significantly improve health. The four Practitioner Certificate Foundations courses (HSI 101, 102, 201 and 202) prepare you for a professional homeopathic practice even without previous experience in health care. Homeopathic practitioners generally work in private practice.
If you are already a health care provider, the same program provides the opportunity to add to expand your skills and enhance your practice with homeopathy. Since 1990, the education at HSI has drawn people from all walks of life and health practitioners of many healing modalities to study this fascinating health care system and become a homeopath.
Because of Homeopathy School International, I am now managing a blossoming homeopathic practice.
Practitioner Certificate – Foundations Courses
Completion of HSI 101, 102, 201 and 202 equip you with the skills to become an independent homeopathic practitioner (CHom) or add professional homeopathic skills to your current health care practice. Theoretical as well as clinical courses are included in the curriculum. Coursework also provides the required education for national certification with the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC). The average completion time of the four courses is 20 months; maximum completion time is 24 months (six month per each of the four courses).
Advanced Clinical Studies:
This course focuses on expanding and honing clinical skills. It is highly recommended for student seeking to establish professional practices. Through supervised case work, it builds expertise and confidence in homeopathic health care. Advanced Clinical Studies is open to anyone with 500 hours of documented homeopathic education and requisite foundational and clinical skills. ACS meets the clinical hour requirements for national certification (CCH).
Homeopathy – a nice fit with other healing modalities:
As a current health practitioner, certification in homeopathy can substantially enrich your practice and extend your work to a public increasingly interested in natural, holistic and life-enhancing healthcare. Homeopathy has proven to support and enhance health care services provided by acupuncturists, chiropractors, counselors, massage therapists, midwifes, nurses, nutritionists, physicians, physical therapists and psychotherapists.
I have a whole new set of powerful, yet gentle tools in my medicine bag.
I love combining homeopathy and Chinese medicine in my practice. Both of these holistic modalities look at the person on multiple levels, and both focus on working with the vital force (Qi in Chinese medicine) to bring about healing. The symptoms are viewed as signs of imbalance in the body that point to the medicine that needs to be used. I can’t imagine practicing without both of these tools. Both modalities are complete in themselves, but I have found that acupuncture and herbs help me balance and support the organs and organ systems in the body, while homeopathy excels at treating the emotional layers involved in disease.
Homeopathy and midwifery are a natural combination. Sometimes during labor, a woman can become stuck or have difficulty to work through an emotional blockage. She may be having unusual pain that is hindering her progress. Homeopathy can initiate a shift for her, so that she can do the work of labor and give birth to a healthy baby naturally. Homeopathy is safe, gentle, effective, and can bring a positive outcome for mother and baby.
One of my specialties in Oriental Medicine is the treatment of children and I found that homeopathy has a wealth of remedies for acute and mental/ behavioral issues, which are affecting a growing number of children. The great advantage of homeopathy is that it works almost instantaneously for acute situations such as high fever and it’s easy for the child to take the remedy, unlike herbal medicine. My Sho-Ni-Shin practice, a hands-on technique of working with children’s meridians and acupuncture without the use of needles, is very compatible with using homeopathic remedies and can significantly speed up the recovery of a child.
After graduating use your expertise and skills to:
- Become a professional homeopath (CHom)
- Be eligible for the nationally accredited certification exam with the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC)
- Expand an existing healthcare practice with homeopathic treatment
The laws governing the practice of homeopathy vary from state to state, country to country, and profession to profession. Licensing for alternative healthcare, including homeopathy is available in a few US states. The Freedom of Health Act has been established in some US states. In these states alternative healthcare providers can legally practice without a license. Successful completion of any homeopathic program does not result in professional licensure. Please check any legal issues regarding the practice of homeopathy in the states or countries of your residence
